Project History
St Anne's is a lively Anglican church on the edge of Bristol. There are about 100 people in the church of varying ages. There is a worship band and the services are quite informal on a Sunday morning at 10.30 am. It is in partnership with a neighbouring church in the next door parish. The Vicar who has only been there 6 months is from a New Wine background and is working on a new vision.
Structure & Vision
Under the previous vicar there was a youth worker who developed the work well. There are a number of youth in the church who are involved in different areas of church life such as worship and children's work. The vicar is running an Alpha course for the older youth. He is hoping for a placement student to take the work forward from September.
Location
Oldland Common and Longwell Green are two suburban parishes in east Bristol. Many families live in the area and there is a very successful parent and toddler group of up to 70 people. The area is close to both fields and open countryside as well as a big retail park, leisure centre and cinema which has good restaurants . It is a very pleasant area to live in and only 25 mins drive from the city centre. Bath is only about 20 mins away by bus or car.
Current Ministry
The church has children's groups on Sunday with mainly primary age children. The youth group meets occasionally and there are good local groups in the area that we work closely with. There is little detached work in schools but the local secondary school is open for this. There is a baptism every month and a good local C of E School with which we have strong links. The youth work needs building up but has firm foundations.
