The SWYM Trainee Youth Worker course is a degree level qualification suitable for those new to youth work (4 year course) or with experience who have completed the Be Transformed Course (Year 1) or a similar discipleship course (3 year course).
Based around a practical youth work placement it includes:
  • Regular meetings with other youth workers for support and encouragement
  • Pastoral support
  • Inspirational Bible teaching
  • Teaching on practical youth work
  • Group study of a distance learning undergraduate applied theology course through tutors, speakers and assessments delivered locally at a network hub centre.
Aiming to develop your strengths and fully equip you for a lifetime of ministry, the material covers key topics - see the course overview below.
Speakers are experts in their field and will inspire you by passing on their experience, skill and knowledge so you can take the message of the Gospel to the young people in the 21st century in engaging and relevant ways.
Suitable candidates will be expected to apply and study for a SWYM approved extension degree course in applied theology.

The Bachelor of Theology (BTh) is awarded by the Sydney College of Divinity (SCD). Australian College of Ministries (ACOM) is a teaching member Institute of SCD and delivers it's teaching through distance learning.
