Project Type: Single Church
Project Area: Cornwall
Project Address:
Parish Office,
Trevarthian Road
St Austell
Postcode: PL25 4BH
Project History & Affiliations:
The project has been running for four years with just one worker and is now looking to expand. We have a lot of contact within schools and are finding the demand too high for one worker. We have a good number of young people involved in our church as well and are wanting to give them the best that we can, to do this we need to increase our team.
The churches in St Austell are beginning to work together and we hope that this project may play a part in this increasing. We are also involve in Hope 08 and Soul Survivor in Cornwall
Structure & Vision of the Project:
The vision of the project is to meet the young people where they are at with the gospel of Jesus. This can take many forms from evangelistic events to showing Christ through the way we care for and grow in relationship with the young people.
We aim always to be giving them God's best
We aim to support the schools in our area and be a community focused project
Our structure is currently one of a Parish with the Project being overseen by the PCC
About the location of the Project:
St Austell is an Urban area in Cornwall. It is a deprived town with many people without Jobs but with rocketing house prices. We really want to be able to show the hope of Christ in this community which feels completely with out hope and are only used to broken promises. The twon is currently being regenerated but this process has caused much pain and disappointment to those living here. There is so much opportunity to share with them the love of Jesus and we would not be fulfilling the great commission if we do not step up to the mark
About the youth work of the Project:
We currently have a full programme of Children's Youth and Schools Work. We also run the Soul Surviovr Cornwall initiative. We are hoping that our schools work will grow and that our contact with non church youth will increase. The young people are currently planning to begin a Friday Night Youth Work which will involve botha drop in cafe and youth congregation
