Project History & Affiliations:
This is an Anglican church in the middle of Plymouth, with a range of children's and young people's groups happening in the church or hall, and also some links with PLymouth High School for Girls, just over the road. We have employed youth and children's workers since 2001, going on to SWYM since 2005, to develop our work
Structure & Vision of the Project:
The church has comparitively few children on Sundays, but lots of club work - [1] Christain clubs like Kidz Club and Grid, [2] professional staffed childcare in teh nursery and Smash out of school club, [3] other hall groups like toddlers and Scouts. The task of the worker is to lead in [1], suport [2] and [3] and help to make them more fruitful and to contact Plymouth High school
About the location of the Project:
An intersting urban area just North of Plymouth city centre - on the edge of the University, so many students live in the parish - mixture of family homes [private and Social Housing], bedsits, shared student house, halls of residence, also business and shop premises.
About the youth work of the Project:
[1] Kidz Klub 4-11's, Wed 6-7.15 in church
[2] Grid Club 11-15's, Wed 7.30-9 in church
[3] Smash Club 4-11's, everyday after school and holidays
[4] Little Angels nursery 2-4's, daytime
[5] Greenback Youth Project/ Youth CAfe, - NEW joint project in the area, with churches and other agencies, based in a local park.
