Project History & Affiliations:
Started in 1924 meeting in rented accommodation until 1967 when acqured own premises. Extended in 1981, 1994 and 2004. Open Brethren roots. Strong focus on community outreach including youth work
Denominational affiliations: Melksham Family of Churches (local CCT Ecumenical Partnership; Evangelical Aliance partnership and New Wine Network.
Structure & Vision of the Project:
Church governed by a leadership team. Delegated authority given to each activity/ministry which are run by teams. Youth and Childrens work are a delegated ministry and part of the church as such. Our vision is summed up in our mission statement as - helping people become fully commmitted followers of Jesus.
About the location of the Project:
Queensway Chapel is situated in a residential area of Melksham, a medium sized town on the river Avon in the North of West Wiltshire, 12 miles South-East of Bath, 7 miles South of Chippenham, 8 miles West of Devises. UK Census of 2001 cites population at 20,000.
About the youth work of the Project:
Youth work covers ages 11-18 and is church based. The youngsters have recently adopted a new name of their choosing "FUSED" Funky Unique Spiritual Enthusiastic Disciples! The focus is primarily on discipleship though recently the number has grown as friends have been invited. Attendance is 8-10 on a Sunday morning and 15-20 on a Thursday evening.
