Project History & Affiliations:
Connect is in its fifteenth year. It is an ecumenical project supported by all the major churches in Mid Devon. The Connect team of trainees and local church youth workers works in the three community colleges in Crediton, Chulmleigh and Okehampton.
Structure & Vision of the Project:
Connect is a charity (registered UK charity number 1126303) and is managed through a board of trustees, and local management groups in each of the three areas.

- To demonstrate Christ's love for young people.
- To offer support on behalf of mid Devon's churches to each community college in developing young people mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially.
- To encourage young people to work out, own and stand for their Christian faith among their peers, in their school and community.
About the location of the Project:
SWYM trainees are based in Crediton and area (catchment area of Queen Elizabeth’s Community College), but also work in liaison with trainees and local church youth workers over the whole Connect project area, including Chumleigh and Okehampton.
About the youth work of the Project:
Majority of trainee time spent in school: lesson support, clubs, assemblies etc
Trainees also provide support for several local church youth clubs and the town community youth club
Trainees encourage youngsters (especially those who are unchurched) to attend camps and events organised by SWYM and DCYC
There is a regular Connect team meeting for discussion and planning.
The SWYM area coordinator supports Connect trainees through a weekly cluster meeting and regular liaison with your line manager.
Trainees meet regularly with the Connect line manager to discuss and plan their work and to evaluate its impact. They are also be provided with a mentor who will be there for them to help with personal and spiritual development.
