Job Description:
1. SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
The overall purpose of the Assistant Youth Worker will be to:
• To strengthen and encourage in the faith the pre-teens and teenagers at Christ Church Woodbury
• To support the Youth Worker in developing ways to reach out to young people outside of the church in the village of Woodbury.
• To support The ICE (Initiatives in Christian Education) team based in Exmouth Community College as appropriate.
• To complete appropriate studies through SWYM.

2. JOB DESCRIPTION
2.1 To support the Youth Worker in the work amongst the 11’s to 18’s in Christ Church, and contribute to the programme of biblical, life-related teaching of the groups.
2.2 To take responsibility for the organisation and delivery of the younger Chalet Group (age 11-13) to include
• planning the programme
• preparation and delivery of sessions
• coordinate social activities for this group with the Youth Leader
• support the discipleship of this group
2.3 To assist in the delivery of sessions to Sunday Clubs as required.
2.4 To co-run the Smoothie Bar, assist with kids club, GEMS (baby and toddler) and develop relationships with the young people of Woodbury.
2.5 To be a positive role model for the young people in Christ Church.
2.7 To assist in developing outreach activities to the village e.g football club, holiday club.
2.6 To encourage the young people to take part in camps and participate as required.
2.7 To set written objectives for activities and feedback to the Youth Worker regularly on progress.
2.9 To carry out activities in Exmouth Community College under the direction of the ICE team which may include assemblies, RE lessons, lunchtime outreach activities.

3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS, TERMS AND CONDITIONS
3.1 The job will be based at CCW; therefore, he/she should be an active member of CCW.
3.2 He/she will line managed by Clair Wigg (Christ Church Youth Worker) and will participate in weekly supervision. They will be accountable to Ros Wade (Christ Church Leadership Representative).
3.3 A time sheet of activities should be maintained and submitted each month to Clair Wigg.
3.4 He/she must work within the appropriate Child Protection and Health & Safety Policies and Procedures, advising on the content of such where appropriate and raising any concerns with Clair Wigg.
3.5 He/she will be expected to continue to develop his/her own Christian knowledge, skills and experience by reading, attending training and actively participating in supervision and feedback with Clair Wigg each week.
3.7 As no rooms or equipment at CCW are dedicated for single use only, he/she will assist in ensuring that all equipment used in the work is maintained in good condition, stored neatly when not in use and rooms left in a tidy and clean condition.
3.9 Hours as shown below, but may also require some weekend and / or residential hours particularly during school holidays.

• Have good time management / punctual
• Reliable, trustworthy and responsible
• Good communication skills – verbal and written
• Car driver essential

Preferred Criteria:
• Will be able to plan and implement a session for 11-13 year olds
• Experience of working with children’s groups
• Demonstrate initiative in activities to outreach to the village
• Have creative / musical skills

Project History & Affiliations:
Church has been in the village for over 100yrs. Originally came about as a work by the Plymouth Brethren, but is now an independent church affliated to the EA, and member of Partnership.

Structure & Vision of the Project:
The raison d'etre is 'worship God, love each other, and tell people about Jesus'. This is the vision of the church and we seek ways to achieve all these threads in balance.

About the location of the Project:
Woodbury is a village of around 3000 people. It is a 'commuting' residential area for Exeter and other larger areas of population. It is our aim to make a differnce in the village, but also to find a mission focus where we can help people to knkow God and serve Him where they are.

About the youth work of the Project:
Young peoples groups on a Sunday morning during the service, and clubs during the week that are aimed at reaching children between 7 and late teens. Also discipleship meetings held during the week for all teenagers.
The church runs a toddlers group for mothers with a distict Christian approach
