Project History & Affiliations:
Kea is an evangelical parish church (Anglican). Our regular membership numbers just over
200 adults and is drawn from the full age range. We have a range of services, some more
traditional than others. Our biggest service is 'The Connection' at 9.30 on Sundays, which is
informal, getting 100-120 adults and 40-60 children & young people.

Structure & Vision of the Project:
Our mission statement is 'to love God and serve our neighbour'. This gives us a twin focus
on 1. getting close to God in everything we do and 2. being involved in our local community,
sharing God's love by serving people. (More info. on our website.)

About the location of the Project:
Kea Parish is located just outside Truro and is rural in character. The Church itself is 2
miles outside the city, so our ministry is a mixture of rural and town-based. The parish also
contains the village of Playing Place (see above). Church members come from a wide area,
including about a third from Truro itself. Truro is a medium sized town & as the county town
of Cornwall has quite a lot going on. It is a beautiful area and less than 20 mins from the
coast in either direction!

About the youth work of the Project:
We have a full-time youth minister who leads the work in three clear areas:
1. Church-based youth work. The youth in the church overall number about 30. We run
youth sessions during the morning service but the main focus is on the 2 age specific youth
groups which meet in the evening, plus monthly worship times.
2. Youth work in the Parish of Kea. Homework club twice a week in the village. We have
Recently launched a new after-school club at Kea School for the 9-13s
3. Schools work. This year saw the launch of the Truro schools team, a joint churches
project for assemblies etc. We are hoping this will grow and allow more projects between
the different churches.
