Somerset is one of the most beautiful Counties of the British Isles. There is everything from the rolling hills of Exmoor to the breathtaking beauty of the levels. Visitors to Somerset will find a county full of variety.
A mostly rural county, Somerset boasts only one city, Wells - the smallest in the UK, and home to a magnificent Cathedral. The three main market towns in the county are Bridgwater, Taunton - the County Town, and home of the County Cricket Team, and Yeovil - home of The Glovers - Yeovil Town Football Club.
The small town of Cheddar can also be found in Somerset, which has its famous Gorge, and possibly even more famous cheese. In the centre of the county are the Somerset Levels, Europe's largest area of wetland. This is mostly farm land, but until it was sufficently drained it used to be flooded for most of the year. Rising above the Levels is the famous Glastonbury Tor.
Not far from Glastonbury itself Worthy Farm in Pilton plays host to what is arguably the best music festival in the world - Glastonbury Festival of contemporary arts. No stranger to national & international events, not far away the Bath & West Show Ground sees thousands of Christians come together for the New Wine and Soul Surviour festivals held there over the summer. Each Spring on the north coast Minehead holds the Spring Harvest conference at Butlins holiday camp.
