The most northerly spot of the SWYM area is Bristol and North Somerset.
There is a stark divide between the north and south of Bristol which are roughly divided by the river. The north is generally seen as the wealthier although there are many areas of deprivation in both regions.
The city centre has a large shopping centre as well as out of town at the Mall, Cribbs Causeway. The city is famous for the Clifton Suspension bridge which spans the Avon gorge as well as the Downs, a vast park just north of the city centre. In the Centre there are a number of good theatres and tourist attractions including the Harbour, IMAX cinema and Cathedral.
There is good unity amongst the churches of Bristol and particularly within the Youth Work through events such as The Mix (large citywide youth service), the Bristol Youth Forum. A lot of support can be found through various groups including the Muller Foundation which supports local church and provide training too.
North Somerset is more rural and includes towns such as Bridgwater and Cheddar which are connected into the north cluster. These are greatly different from other placements and to get a better idea of these locations, its worth reading up on Somerset! Cheddar is a popular tourist town with the beautiful Gorge and many other sights. Bridgwater is a much more industrial town sitting on the M5.
