The Central area is in Mid Devon and sits between Dartmoor, in the south, embracing the wild landscapes and picture postcard villages and Exmoor, in the north and combines breathtaking rugged coastline with wild heather moorland.
Mid Devon is full of rolling green hills, coloured patchwork fields, high-sided lanes, ancient stone clapper bridges, sparkling clear rivers, deeply wooded valleys plunging to the coast. This combining with bustling market towns, traditional villages, thatched white-washed cottages, traditional Devon longhouses, welcoming country pubs, specialist shops and lively farmers' markets, makes a beautiful place to live and work. It has hundreds of miles of marked footpaths and bridleways, - the perfect locations for exploring the great outdoors.
Spring brings snowdrops, primroses and daffodils to river valleys and woodlands. Summer sees clear skies, soaring birds, and swathes of purple heather leading into Autumn with golden woodland colours and crisp fresh air. Winter brings light coverings of frost and snow.
Mid Devon has Cathedrals, castles and prehistoric stone circles combining with royal connections and famous authors. Exeter has a magnificent 850 year old cathedral, there is a Civil War stronghold at Tiverton Castle and Okehampton has a Norman fortress.
